Spurs 4 (Barclay pen, Rutherford, Gay, Guthrie ) Old boys 5 (Rutherford, Marr, Thomson, Brown 2)
A polished football performance from the old boys as they sealed victory against the spurs at a sunny recreation park in St Monans.
The old boys took the lead when Rutherfords powerful header from a corner found the net. Further first half goals from Marr & Brown seemed to put the game beyond spurs, but they got a lift early in the second half as Barclay scored from the spot after a handball in the box. Thomson then scored the goal of the game with a rasping shot to restore the old boys three goal advantage. Tired legs from the old boys in the last quarter of the match gave spurs renewed hope as they pushed forward. Rutherford scored in the corner after he jinked past several defenders to start the spurs comeback. Brown then scored his second of the game for the old boys after a fine solo run. Gay scored for the spurs with a well taken shot as the old boys were now feeling the pace. Guthrie then managed to squeeze the ball in the net to reduce the old boys lead to just one goal. With the spurs pushing all out to find another goal, the final whistle sounded to a very tired & relieved old boys.
