Spurs last league game of the season ended in defeat, but the spurs gave a good account of themselves, but once again failed to score after being on top in the game. Spurs were without Herd,Thomson & Anderson & with Ellicott & Thaw pulling out through illness, spurs only had one sub. Spurs started brightly creating several half chances, Rutherford the closest with a shot just wide of goal. The first period was goalless, but Elgin took the lead with a rare attack & scored with a scrappy finish. Spurs went close to tying the game with a Rutherford shot hitting the bar. With Spurs looking to find an equaliser Elgin were awarded a free kick, & with spurs keeping a good line in defence the free kick saw several Elgin players offside, but the ref waved play on & the Elgin forward netted to all but kill the game for spurs. Elgin scored a late third, but the game was much closer than the scoreline would suggest.
